The WearHouse
The WearHouse is an immersive, tactile experience designed to reshape users’ attitudes towards clothing and consumerism. By creating a sense of futurism and intrigue through considered material application, spatial curation, and varied engagement initiatives, the space provides education and facilities which address the devastating environmental impact of the fast fashion industry.
The WearHouse is an adaptive re-use project, situated in Manchester College’s disused St John’s Centre. The design is informed by existing sustainability initiatives, consumer attitudes, and material application.
Through experimentation with photography, projection, and ideas of futurism, the design process focused on creating a space that feels innovative and engaging for the user. The spatial journey is designed to re-frame perceptions of used clothing, inciting a transformation from something old into something new.
